Homeownership Counseling Class

As a CHFA-approved housing counseling agency, NWNH provides an 8-Hour First Time Homebuyer class which is offered to all of our residents, as well as the general public. These classes are offered approximately every six weeks by our staff Homeownership Counselor, who provides prospective homebuyers with the essential information they need to purchase a home. Homebuyer Classes educate participants on the social and economic significance of purchasing a home, and equip them with the tools to do so. Topics included in the course cover planning and budgeting, credit repair, the home buying process, evaluation of mortgage structures, securing quality legal representation during the purchasing process, preventive home maintenance, and foreclosure prevention. NWNH welcomes local experts as guest speakers to enhance the homebuyer education course. Our program serves approximately 120 participants annually, and on average 24% become homeowners and 29% apply for a mortgage.

If you are interested in taking the course, please email jose@nwnh.net to sign up for the next training, or call Jose Santos at 203-562-4514 Ext 124. Class dates are listed on our calendar.
